A perfect combination of spiced whole wheat flour dhoklis in Gujarati dalis, this is a sumptuous one-pot meal. It is easy to prepare, healthy, and stomach filling as well.

    Ingredients to make Dal Dhokli:

    ½ cup arhar dal, ½ cup wheat flour, 1 tbsp gram flour, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp green chilli paste, 1 tbsp ginger paste, 3 tbsp peanuts, 1 tbsp jaggery, a pinch of hing, a string of curry leaves, 2 dry red chillies, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp fenugreek seeds, 2 tbsp ghee, oil, salt to taste

    Steps to make Dal Dhokli:

    1. Wash and rinse arhar dal. Boil the dal in cooker. Place peanuts in a bowl over arhar dal in cooker and then boil.

    2. Prepare dough for dhokli. Take wheat flour, besan, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp green chilli paste, 1 tbsp oil, and salt. Mix little water at a time and knead a smooth dough.

    3. Blend the cooked dal. Add more water and blend again.

    4. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds. Allow them to splutter. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, dry red chilli, ginger paste, green chilli paste, hing and saute.

    5. Add pureed dal and jaggery. Add boiled peanuts, water, lemon juice, salt. Bring it to boil over medium flame.

    6. Meanwhile, divide the dough into equal parts and roll them like a chapati. Cut it into small diamond shapes usinf knife.

    7. Slowly, add these dhoklis in dal and cook for 8-10 minutes. Keep stirring in between.

    8. Turn off the flame and serve the dal dhokli in serving platter.

    Garnish with coriander leaves.
