Requisites: Clear drinking glass, water, whole milk, measuring cup, teaspoon, flashlight.
Steps:
1. Take a clear drinking glass and half fill it.
2. Then, take a flashlight and shine it on your clear drinking glass.
3. You will notice that the water in the glass will look white.
4. Now pour milk about half a cup in the water and mix it well.
5. Now put the lights off in the room and take the glass in a very dark corner.
6. Shine the flashlight from the side of the glass through it.
7. You will notice that the milk will appear yellow, orange and red.
Now get ready to answer the questions of your little one why does this happen? 'It is because the light is shining through the particles similar during sunrise and sunset as the atmosphere is full of billions of particles'. When the sun is low in the morning or the early evening the sun rays have to travel through a thicker layer of atmosphere as compared to the other times of the day. When the sunlight hit these particles, it bounces off and scatters hence orange and red colors are seen.
